Aisling MacRunnels is the Chief Business Officer at Synack, the leader in crowdsourced security testing. Aisling has over 25 years of experience in Silicon Valley building early stage and mature businesses in tech, biotech and cybersecurity. As CMO of the Sun Micrososyem’s software business MacRunnels led the initial deployments of Java on mobile clients and managed the Java Developer Community as it hit a record-breaking billion downloads. She also played a major role in developing the first open source consortiums and licenses, a precursor to the crowdsourcing models we have today. Aisling’s interest in security began when her product Sun Grid, the world’s first commercial cloud, was taken down by a denial of service attack just minutes after deployment. As a founding member of the Synack team, Aisling has helped create a new category of security testing that can support the scale and pace of the digital transformation. Aisling is an executive committed to the convergence between strong people, diverse teams and leading edge technology; the power of human intelligence and artificial intelligence leveraged together with the strength of community. Aisling’s “Courageous Women in Security” initiative, founded in 2016, welcomes women from across the security industry to support and empower each other to drive greater engagement, success and diversity.
